Pak-Iran freight train derails in Chagai

CHAGAI: The freight train service between Pakistan and Iran was suspended for almost 24 hours after a goods train derailed near the Yakmach area of Chagai on Saturday.

Sources in Pakistan Railways told Dawn that five boogies of the train derailed owing to fatigue condition of the railway track amid hot weather.

The train was going from Iranian city of Zahedan to Quetta when it met with the accident, the sources said. They said the routine operation on the Quetta railway section was restored after rescue and rehabilitation work was completed.
