Three killed as bus falls into ravine in Upper Kohistan
MANSEHRA: Three people, including a young girl, were killed and 25 others injured when an Islamabad-bound passenger coach fell into a ravine in Muttabanda area of Upper Kohistan district on Tuesday.
Abdul Rehman, a Rescue 1122 official, said that the vehicle carrying 30 passengers was coming from Gilgit.
Witnesses said that the accident occurred due to over-speeding.
Rescuers shifted the injured to the District Headquarters Hospital, Dasu.
The deceased were identified as Kamran Rana of Azad Kashmir, Mohammad Daud of Pattan area of Lower Kohistan and Noor Fatima, 10, from Gilgit. “Ten of the injured were referred to Ayub Medical Complex Hospital, Abbottabad, in critical condition,” Mr Rehman said.
He said that the injured also included women and children.
Meanwhile, the police arrested two persons for trying to kidnap a girl student of a local medical college.
The men abducted the student at gunpoint when she came out of the institution, and were shifting her to somewhere in a car when the police intercepted the vehicle and arrested them. They were identified as Mohammad Arsalan and Mohammad Bilal.
