Over 100pc increase in paper prices

LAHORE: The Textbook Publishers Association (TPA) on Thursday protested against paper mills for increasing the price of paper.

Textbook publishers, copy manufacturers, publishers of Quran and other Islamic and general books gathered in Urdu Bazaar and protested against the huge increase in the price of paper.

They said the paper mill owners were raising the prices on a weekly basis and it would become impossible to publish text and other books.

They said the publishing and manufacturing of books would become impossible and if they would increase the price of the books, the students would not be able to purchase them.

TPA president Fawaz Niaz said that the paper mills had raised the price of paper from Rs 112 to 235 per kg during last month and there would be price increase in published books.
