Muggers kill young man in North Nazimabad

KARACHI: A young man was shot dead by suspected robbers in North Nazim­abad, according to police.

Shahrah-i- Noor Jehan SHO Amir Azam Khan said that four friends were sitting outside their homes in Bilalabad, Block R, due to power loadshedding.

He said that two armed muggers emerged there, held them at gunpoint and snatched cell phones from three of the four persons. The robbers fired at the fourth men, identified as Fayaz Mohammed, 25, when he tried to run away.

He suffered a single bullet wound in the thigh and died because of excessive bleeding.

The body was shifted to the Abbasi Shaheed Hospital for a post-mortem examination.

He said they lodged the case pertaining to robbery and murder under Section 302 (premeditated murder) and 34 (common intention) of the Pakistan Penal Code.

Investigators collected one spent bullet casing fired from a .9mm pistol from the crime scene, he added.

In another incident, a 42-year-old man, identified as Luqman Ali, was gunned down at Ganna Mandi on Superhighway.

The body was taken to the Abbasi Shaheed Hospital for medico-legal formalities.

Police said that the motive could not be ascertained immediately.

Meanwhile, a 53-year-old man, identified as Shaukat Husain, was bludgeoned to death in Azam Basti.

The body was taken to the Jinnah Postgraduate Medical Centre. Police said that the murder appeared to be motivated by over some personal enmity.
