Most of Bajaur without power supply for three days
BAJAUR: Most parts of Bajaur tribal district have been without electricity supply since Monday morning when heavy showers caused faults in the transmission lines as the Tribal Electric Supply Company (Tesco) has failed to fix the glitches and restore the supply, residents complained on Wednesday.
“Electricity supply was suspended to most areas of the district when the recent spell of rain started on Monday,” Fazal Rahman, a resident of Sadiqabad town, told Dawn.
The residents said power supply was suspended to almost all parts of the region, including Khar, the district headquarters.
“The Tesco officials have not even bothered to restore power supply to the district headquarters, what to talk of other areas,” Asadullah Khan, a social activist living in Khar, regretted.
The residents pointed out that the region was also facing water shortage as the solar-power-run schemes lied dormant during rains.
“Though people in majority areas of the district are using solar-power to run water supply schemes, they did not function during the rain, causing water shortage,” Shah Wali Khan, a resident of Mamond tehsil, said.
They demanded of Tesco officials to fix the faults without delay.
A Tesco official told Dawn on contact that faults occurred in transmission lines due to heavy rain and thunderstorm. He said the faults were being fixed in order to restore power supply to the affected areas without delay.
