A New York restaurant announced a $200 plate of French fries certified as the world’s most expensive by Guinness World Records, returned to the eatery for National French Fry Day.

Serendipity3 on Manhattan’s Upper East Side earned a Guinness World Record for the world’s most expensive French fries when chefs cooked up Creme de la Creme Pommes Frites, a plate of fries listed for $200.

The fries feature ingredients including Chipperbeck potatoes, J. LeBlanc French vinegar, cage-free goose fat from France, Guerande Truffle Salt, truffle oil, Crete Senesi Pecorino Tartufello cheese, shaved black summer truffles from Italy, truffle butter, organic A2 A2 100 percent grass fed cream from Jersey Cows, Gruyere Truffled Swiss Raclette and a topping of 23-karat edible gold dust.

World’s largest chess piece

A French chess club unofficially broke a Guinness World Record by building a chess piece measuring more than 20.6 feet tall.

The Sautron Chess Club built the nearly 4.2-tonne chess king in Sautron, near Nantes, to commemorate the currently-running 20th International Open in the city.

The chess piece is made from more than 768 pieces of French wood and took more than 700 hours to build. The French Chess Federation shared photos of the chess piece being assembled on Twitter.

The current Guinness World Record holder for largest chess piece measures 20 feet tall and was assembled by the World Chess Museum in St Louis, Mo., in 2018.

Mosaic featuring 14,400 doughnuts breaks world record in Arizona

An Arizona-based grocery store chain broke a Guinness World Record when it assembled 14,400 doughnuts into a mosaic of the store’s 90th anniversary logo.

Bashas, a grocery store chain in Chandler, broke the world record for largest doughnut mosaic (logo) when it assembled the 14,400 decorated doughnuts into the shape of a special logo designed for the chain’s 90th anniversary.

The team assembled the mosaic at Basha High School and a Guinness World Records adjudicator measured the finished logo at 902 square feet, enough to break the previous record set in Ukraine in 2012.

Rare orange lobster found in Florida

An extremely rare orange lobster was spared the dinner plate at a Red Lobster restaurant in Florida and will have a new permanent home at an aquarium.

Ripley’s Aquarium in Myrtle Beach, SC, said it was contacted by managers at the Red Lobster in Hollywood, Fla, after workers discovered the orange lobster in a shipment.

The lobster’s orange colouring is believed to be from a mutation that occurs only in one out of 30 million lobsters. The unusual crustacean was named Cheddar in honour of Red Lobster’s cheddar bay biscuits. Nicole Bott, senior director of communications at Red Lobster, said Cheddar will soon be on display at the Myrtle Beach aquarium.
