From The Past Pages Of Dawn: 1947: Seventy-five years ago: Design of Pak flag
KARACHI: It is reliably learnt that the broad design of the Pakistan flag is finally settled. It will contain a white vertical strip, one third in dimension of the flag, rest in deep green with a crescent and a star.
It is understood that a proposal is also under consideration to introduce a vertical line in deep green at the staff-end of the flag to give a more prominent effect to the white stripe. The Governor-General’s personal flag may be deep blue in colour with a crown and an inscription underneath “Pakistan” in gold. Both the flags will be unfurled at Government House after the swearing in ceremony on August 15.
[It was also reported from Karachi that] The personnel of 21 departments of the Pakistan Government, numbering about 600 including 90 families, arrived in a special train from New Delhi today [August 4]. They have been temporarily lodged in military barracks pending completion of the arrangements for their quarters. Mr. J.P. Jefflock, who is appointed today as Director-General of Civil Aviation for Pakistan, is expected to arrive in Karachi on August 8. Mr. Awan, Deputy Director-General of Civil Aviation, Pakistan who had been here last week, left for Delhi yesterday.
