Body of woman drowned in Malir river fished out

KARACHI: The body of a woman, who drowned along with her family after their taxi swept away in a flash flood on the city outskirts a couple of days ago, was fished out of the Malir river after hectic efforts lasting for several days.

Six members of a family and their driver had drowned on Aug 17 when they were returning to Hyderabad after attending a marriage ceremony in Karachi.

She was identified as Rabia Zeeshan Ansari, 35.

The bodies of her husband, Mohammed Zeeshan Ansari, and their four children, including one girl, were already recovered.

An Edhi Foundation spokesperson on Sunday said that their volunteers during a search operation on the fifth consecutive day recovered the body and shifted it to the Edhi morgue at Sohrab Goth.

The rescue operation rem­a­­i­ned continue for the recovery of the driver, Abdul Rehman.

Two picnickers drown

A minor boy and young man drowned in Hub River on Sunday.

An Edhi Foundation spokesperson said that a family had gone for a picnic at Hub River when a five-year old boy, Baber Mehboob, and 27-year-old Niaz Ali drowned.

Rescue volunteers have recovered the body of the man while the operation was continued for the boy. They were close relatives, said the spokesperson.
