TikToker booked for making video in Faisal Mosque

ISLAMABAD: A TikToker and some of her associates were booked by the capital police after her video at Faisal Mosque went viral on social media, police said on Monday.

The case was registered at Margalla police station under PPC 295-A in response to a complaint lodged by Mohsin Ishaq, the mosque’s prayer leader, against the TikToker and her staff, including a cameraman.

According to the FIR, the complainant saw a video on social media in which a woman was found without headscarf and wearing inappropriate clothes. She was walking inside the premises of Faisal Mosque in an uncivilised manner, trampling the sanctity and respect of the worship place, it added.

The prayer leader said being a Muslim and a citizen of the Islamic State of Pakistan, it had hurt his religious sentiments, the FIR said, adding that such disregard of religious sentiments on social media and TikTok by the younger generation was becoming a normal practice.

It is our social responsibility to stop such practices, the FIR said.

The police said investigation had been launched after registration of the case, and relevant departments were being approached to trace and identify the girl and other suspects from different sources including her TikTok account.
