A GOOD CHANGE

A GOOD CHANGE: The Federal Board of Intermediate and Secondary Education (FBISE) has changed the exam model of compulsory subjects for matriculation and intermediate levels. The exam will be based on student learning outcomes using the curriculum-based model. This change will encourage critical thinking among the students. The new model will help them get rid of outdated course books and rote-learning. Students will be able to use a variety of sources for learning instead of relying on books only. All the other boards should follow in FBISE’s footsteps.

NO NETWORK: People in Bal Nigwar, comprising areas like Kapkapar, Dizdir, Kucha, Kashap, Sorik, in Kech district of Balochistan, are facing difficulty in communication because of weak or missing signals. There are two networks functional in the area, but they are actually non-functional as network signals disappear for 8-10 hours every day. The matter needs attention.

MISSILE INCIDENT: This refers to the report ‘Pakistan terms Indian report on missile firing deficient’ (Aug 25). The inquiry report raises many questions. If the errant missile was fired accidentally, why did the Indian defence not detect it, and sounded the alert. Actually, the missile should have been intercepted and destroyed. Besides, the relevant authorities in Pakistan were needed to be alerted on hotline. The Indians were most likely testing Pakistan’s defences and response times.

INDIFFERENT ATTITUDE: During the recent floods, the plight of Wahab Ali Bugti, who, together with Kaifi Khalil and rapper Eva B, sang the famous song Kana Yari, attracted social media attention after which there were some movement at certain levels to provide him some relief. Wahab’s village, like many others, stands inundated. Worse, his mud house has collapsed. The early indifferent attitude towards our talented professionals deserves to be condemned.
