Mercury soars to 40°C in city
KARACHI: The Met department has forecast hot, dry weather for two more days as mercury soared to 40 degrees Celsius with 47 per cent relative humidity on Friday.
The temperature in Karachi is likely to range between 38°C and 39°C in the next two days.
“A low pressure area circulating over Indian Gujarat has trapped the sea breeze, causing a spike in Karachi’s temperature,” explained chief meteorologist Dr Sardar Sarfaraz, adding that the system was too insignificant to induce any other change in weather.
“However, it will likely induce light to moderate rain with occasional thunderstorm in Tharparkar and Umerkot from Saturday (today) night till Sept 13 while in Mirpurkhas, Tando Muhammad Khan, Badin, Sujawal and Thatta districts between Sept 11 and 13,” he said.
