HYDERABAD: New wheat variety launched

HYDERABAD, Dec 21: The Sindh agriculture department has launched a newly-evolved wheat variety with yield potential of 80 maunds per acre. This was stated by Karam Khan Kaleri, director of the Agriculture Research Institute, Tandojam, in his presentation before Pakistan Agriculture Research Council chairman Dr Mohammad E. Tasneem, agriculture research director-general Dr Khan Keerio and others here on Wednesday.

The meeting was told that more high-yield varieties of wheat were in the pipeline. Mr Keerio said research facilities in horticulture and rice in Sindh were inadequate which needed to be strengthened. He sought cooperation of PARC in this field. He said scientists of the province required training and capacity development.
