Asif Afridi suspended under Anti-Corruption Code
LAHORE: Khyber Pakhtunkhwa leg-spinner Asif Afridi has been provisionally suspended following two alleged breaches of the Pakistan Cricket Board’s Anti-Corruption Code.
According to a PCB press release on Tuesday, Asif was suspended a day earlier, “which means that he cannot take part in any cricket-related activity, pending conclusion of the investigation being carried out by PCB’s Anti-Corruption Unit.”
The board said Asif was issued a Notice of Charge for two breaches under the Anti-Corruption Code’s Article 2.4.
Asif was a part of the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa squad in the ongoing National T20 Cup. However it is unclear if he committed any offence during the tournament.
The 35-year-old was part of the Pakistan roster for the home white-ball series against Australia earlier this year.
