PBSF picks Ahsan, Babar for snooker events in Malaysia
KARACHI: The Pakistan Billiards and Snooker Federation (PBSF) seems to be focusing on foreign events instead of providing competition to the cueists at the domestic level.
This is evident from the fact that a year has passed without any event at home. The 46th National Snooker Championship was held at the National Bank of Pakistan (NBP) Sports Complex in September last year.
The PBSF has named two cueists — reigning world champion Ahsan Ramzan and Babar Masih — for competing in the Asian 6-Reds, World 6-Reds and World Team Championships which begins at Kuala Lumpur from Sunday.
The two cueists will be accompanied by as many officials — PBSF chairman Alamgir Shaikh and referee Naveed Kapadia. The team leaves for Malaysian capital on Friday.
“Top four cueists including incumbent national champion Mohammad Sajjad were asked to bear the expenses of the trip but the top national cueist declined while the other two agreed,” an official told Dawn.
