Traders seek action against ex-policeman over ‘extortion’

KOHAT: The Miankhel tribesmen and business circles have appealed to the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa police chief and the Kohat district police officer to take action against a terminated policeman, who has been extorting money from people and let loose a reign of terror in the area.

Talking to mediapersons here on Friday, they alleged that the expelled policeman, Zahib Shah, had been threatening the traders of dire consequences if they did not pay extortion.

They said the policeman was terminated from service after he had opened fire at the house of the owner of a plaza two months ago in Bahadar Colony. Afterwards, they said the cop started drug trafficking, robberies and extortion.

They said the ‘outlaw’ had also fired at the houses of two elders of Miankhel tribe.

They alleged that despite the fact that the former policeman had become a threat to the lives of people, the police seemed unbothered to take action against their former official.
