All dues to national team players cleared, claims PHF
LAHORE: The Pakistan Hockey Federation (PHF) has claimed that it had cleared all the dues of the national teams against their foreign tours amounting to Rs10.5million.
According to a press release issued here on Saturday, PHF secretary Haider Hussain said that the dues were pending of the last five months during which the national team played at the Asia Cup and the Commonwealth Games.
Haider added that the PHF had also paid the salaries of the staff. The PHF secretary said that the delay happened as a result of an attempt made by some elements, writing a letter to the PHF’s official bank to stop the account because the PHF’s body was not affiliated with the Pakistan Sports Board.
However, when the Pakistan Olympic Association issued the letter of affiliation to the PHF, it helped the federation to get the bank’s account operational.
The bank issue arose after PHF president retired Brig Khalid Sajjad Khokhar did not follow the instructions of the PSB in holding elections under the supervision of a four-member committee last month.
The PHF president held the elections under the federation’s constitution, as the PSB had not accepted the elections.
