Protesting KP teachers reach Banigala, again
ISLAMABAD: A few hundred teachers from Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) reached Banigala which housed the residence of former premier Imran Khan on Saturday, despite imposition of section 144 of CrPC in the capital, Dawn has learnt.
The section 144 of CrPC has been imposed in capital under which gathering of five and more than five people and protest and sit it, police and administration officers confirmed.
Police officer told Dawn that about 400 teachers from KP entered capital and moved on the roads without any hurdles and reached to Imran Khan Chowk at Banigala.
There was a heavy shower in the area and after reaching the chowk the staged a sit-in there as the police deployed there intercepted them, they added.
They came over to capital to stage a protest and sit-in.
They are demanding regularisation and restoration of general provident fund and pension benefits, the officer said, adding that the protesters demanded of the police to allow them to move towards the Khan’s residence.
Till the filing of this report the protesters are present at the Imran Khan’s residence, the officers added.
