Kohat trader injured, deprived of cash
KOHAT: Robbers snatched cash from a trader and also shot at and injured him near the Bilitang police station on Rawalpindi Road here on Tuesday.
SHO Biitang police station Afzal Awan, however, said Shams, a ghee dealer, did not report the matter to the police.
He claimed all the circumstantial evidence showed that it was some personal issue as the victim was afraid of lodging a complaint with the police. He said he had sent a message to the trader to come to the police station and explain the incident.
OFFICE-BEARERS: The Kohat Chambers of Commerce and Industry elected its new cabinet for 2023 at its general body meeting on Tuesday.
According to an announcement made by former secretary general Eng Faiq Shah, Arshad Hayat had been elected as president, Pir Kamran Shah senior vice-president and Ayaz Shah vice-president.
The members of executive committee are Mobin Awan, Abdur Rehman, Arshad Khattak and Mohammad Naeem.
Similarly, Hanan Shah and Robel Nazeer have been nominated as chairman and vice-chairman of standing committee for Kohat University of Science and Technology, respectively.
Speaking on the occasion, former KCCI president Rasheed Paracha urged the business community to become taxpayers and invest in establishment of new industries.
He also shed light on the achievements, longstanding demands and future plans of the chamber.
The meeting was attended by presidents of bazaar unions and notables of the business community.
