Work on Munda Headworks’ restoration in progress: minister
PESHAWAR: Provincial Minister for Irrigation Arshad Ayub Khan has said that work for restoration of Munda Headworks is under way on emergency basis and its completion will resolve the water supply problem being faced by the farmers.
He directed the chief engineer south to review the restoration work on a daily basis and ensure its completion within 15 days, says a statement issued here on Thursday.
He gave the instructions during a review meeting regarding ongoing restoration work in south zone of the irrigation department. Secretary irrigation Mohammad Ayaz, chief engineer south Nasir Ghafoor Khan and officials of the department attended the meeting.
The participants were given a briefing on restoration work in the South Zone, including Munda Headworks, Chashma Right Bank Lift Canal and Warran Canal, Tank.
The minister ordered completion of restoration work on Munda Headworks within 15 days. He also asked them to speed up desilting process of the Warran Canal, Tank, and take steps to ensure timely water supply to the farmers.
Addressing the meeting, Arshad Ayub said that the provincial government was taking steps to complete the restoration process in flood-affected areas as soon as possible.
