Imran visits court to apologise in judge’s absence

ISLAMABAD: Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf (PTI) Chairman Imran Khan visited a sessions court of Islamabad on Friday in order to tender an apology to Additional District and Sessions Judge (ADSJ) Zeba Chaudhry, but finding her on leave, he asked her reader to convey his apology to her.

When Mr Khan reached the courtroom, the staff present there informed him that the ADSJ was on leave. He asked the reader to convey his message to “Madam Zeba” that “Imran Khan has visited her to apologise if his words hurt her sentiments”.

Mr Khan then left the courtroom.

On Sept 22, Mr Khan appeared before a five-member bench of the Islamabad High Court (IHC) in response to the contempt of court proceedings initiated against him over intimidating utterances against ADSJ Zeba Chaudhry.

“I do apologise if the court feels that I have crossed the line,” Mr Khan had said, adding: “I am ready to go to the lady judge and tender apology before her if she feels herself threatened.”

Meanwhile, ADSJ Zafar Iqbal confirmed the pre-arrest bail of Mr Khan in a case registered against him by Aabpara police station for violation of Section 144.

Mr Khan’s counsel told the court that Islamabad police had registered 21 FIRs against PTI over petty issues.

The court, after hearing the arguments of the defence counsel and the prosecution, confirmed the pre-arrest bail of Mr Khan.
