Wonder Craft: For a wonderful teacher!
Teachers’ Day is around the corner, and many of you have already made plans for wishing your teachers in a special way. But if some of you are still worried about how you can stand out from the rest of your class fellows, then here is a craft you can make as a token of appreciation to the person, your teacher, who is devoting their life for your better future.
The craft is made using foam sheets, you can use paper if you want, but foam sheets give amazing results.
Things you need:
- Foam sheets (two colours, mine are brown and red)
- Pieces of foam sheets (of various colours to make small books)
- Scissors
- White glue
- Hot glue
- Pencil
- Pen
- Double tape
Directions:
The craft is made in four parts.
First, we will make small books. For that, we will cut three two-inch long and one-inch-wide pieces of foam. Of these three pieces, two will be white and one will be coloured, picture 2.
The white pieces are the inside of the book, so two-fold white pieces and paste them together. Then take the coloured piece and paste it on the white ones. This is the cover of the book, make at least five such books, (four of the same size, and one a bit bigger with the black cover), pictures 3 and 4.
Making of an owl. I have not shown all the steps as they will need a bigger space in the magazine, so I am telling you in easy steps how to make the owl.
First, choose the colour for the owl. I chose brown, then I cut it into the shape of number ‘8’, the top (head) is wide while the bottom (body) is a bit narrowed down, look at the picture for your reference. Then cut a heart out of the red foam sheet, paste it on the tummy of the owl, then cut two joined circles from white foam for the eyes, and paste them at their respective place. Make a semi-circle for the eyes with the marker. Then cut small claws and paste them on each side on the bottom part of the owl, picture 5.
To make the fringed-flower: cut a strip from red foam sheet roughly 3-inch wide and 10-inch long, paste double tape at one side and join both sides together, picture 6.
Make a fringe from the folded side; then make a small ring made from hard sheet, picture 7.
Curl the fringe firmly around the ring to form the flower, picture 8.
Covering the pen: cover the pen with either the washi tape or the foam sheet, picture 9.
Cover the cap of the pen with another colour of foam sheet, and then paste the small books that we made earlier on top of it, picture 10.
Make a graduation cap from the black foam sheet, mine was one inch from all sides, picture 11.
Paste the cap on one side of the owl; then paste this owl on the small black-covered book, picture 12.
To make the platform, cut a piece of cardboard in a circular shape, not more than six inches in circumference, then paste your favourite colour on it.
With all four parts such as an owl, a platform, a flower, and a pen being ready, it’s time to paste them on their respective places, put the pen inside the flower, picture 13.
