KOHAT/LOWER DIR: The boards of intermediate and secondary education, Kohat and Malakand, declared the annual examination results of the higher secondary school certificate (HSSC) on Saturday.

In the pre-engineering group, Hassan Bilal Raan of Cadet College, Kohat, topped the results with 1,033 marks out of 1,100. Mohammad Shehryar stood second with 1,025 marks and Malaika Mursaleem of Mitha Government Girls Higher Secondary School (GGHSS), Mithakhel, Karak, bagged the third position.

In pre-medical, Umama Tufail of Shaheen Children Academy, Mithakhel, Karak, bagged the top slot with 1,044 marks followed Laila Maheen clinching the second spot with 1,039 marks and Mohammad Zulqarnain of Cadet College, Kohat, grabbing third spot with 1,038 marks.

In humanities group, first position went to Afifa Afridi of GGHSS Bilitang, Kohat, with 969 marks, second to Anam of GGHSS Gumbat with 968 marks and third to Aisha Bibi of GGHSS, Bilitang.

In general science, Fatima of Concept School and College, Parachinar, got top position with 999 marks, Asmatullah stood second with 989 marks and Zabiullah of Cambridge School, Sadda tehsil of Parachinar, got 985 and stood third.

The shining students were given cash prizes and shields by Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Secretary Shehzad Khan Bangash during a ceremony held at the auditorium of the Kohat University of Science and Technology.

Deputy commissioner Furqan Ashraf, DIG, Kohat division, Tahir Ayub, former law minister Imtiaz Shahid Qureshi, chairperson of Kohat board Sameen Altaf, chairman of Peshawar board Nasrullah Khan, a large number of students, their parents and teachers attended the ceremony.

Meanwhile, according to the Malakand board results, Umair Ahmad of Allama Iqbal Model School and College, Dir, got 1,054 marks and stood first. Hassanul Haidar of Government Postgraduate College, Khar Bajaur, stood second with 1,044 marks, Noora Ali of Allama Iqbal Model School and College, Sakhakot Malakand, stood third getting 1,043 marks.

A total of 32,990 candidates appeared in the HSSC Part-I examination, out of which 22,975 were declared successful. In Part-II, out of a total of 27,535 candidates, 32,135 were declared successful.

In FSc pre-medical, 14,773 candidates appeared, and 17,101 were declared successful.

In pre-engineering, of the total 1,002 candidates, 1,617 were declared successful.

A total of 11,939 candidates appeared in humanities group, out of which 10,816 were declared successful.
