HYDERABAD: PTI calls conference on Kalabagh

HYDERABAD, Dec 23: Pakistan Tehrik-i-Insaf president Imran Khan has convened an all-parties conference in the city on Sunday. Leaders of political parties and groups have been invited to discuss the Kalabagh dam issue.

This was stated by leaders of the party’s Sindh chapter, Mr Zubair Khan, G.M. Qureshi, Dr Samad Shaikh and Khalid Imran at a news conference at the press club on Friday. They rejected the Kalabagh dam plan and demanded that the controversial project be abandoned and Bhasha and small dams be built.

They said President Gen Pervez Musharraf had adopted the old policy of divide and rule by raising the dam issue.

They said South Asian Muslims had created Pakistan but military generals destroyed it.

They said that Gen Ayub Khan sold out three rivers of Punjab, Yahya Khan caused disintegration of the country, Gen Zia-ul-Haq engineered ethnic polarization and introduced the Kalashnikov and heroine culture and Gen Musharraf harmed the Islamic identity of the country.
