Two Rangers men shot at, wounded in Landhi
KARACHI: Two personnel of Pakistan Rangers, Sindh were shot at and wounded by armed suspects in the Landhi area on Wednesday morning, officials said.
The Shah Latif Town police said that the two Rangers men — Shahid Iqbal, 35, and Mohammed Ramzan, 30, — sustained bullet wounds near the Manzil petrol pump. They were shifted to the Jinnah Postgraduate Medical Centre for treatment.
However, a spokesperson for the Rangers said that the paramilitary force personnel were patrolling near Kohi Goth when they saw some suspects and signalled them to stop. Instead of stopping, the suspects tried to speed away on a motorbike and during a chase they opened fire, wounding the two personnel, he added.
Meanwhile, rangers and police jointly carried out an intelligence-based raid in DHA, Phase-II and arrested a man for his alleged involvement in robbery, sexual assault and, attempted murder.
He said the paramilitary force had received a complaint on their helpline on Sept 30 against the suspect, identified as Moin. During initial probe, the suspect ‘confessed’ to have committed a robbery in a house, where he tried to rape a woman.
