Nepra chief urged to resolve loadshedding, overbilling issues

KARACHI: Sindh Energy Minister Imtiaz Ahmed Shaikh on Friday took up the issue of load shedding and overbilling by the K-Electric with the National Electric Power Regulatory Authority (Nepra) demanding immediate resolution of the matters.

In his meeting with Nepra chairman Touseef Hasan Farooqi here at the energy department, he also said that that distribution companies should be bound to immediately restore power supply and transmission system in the flood-hit areas of the province.

He informed the Nepra chief that there were also several complaints of forced dismissal of KE employees from the power utility.

The minister said the provincial government might constitute a parliamentary commission with the approval of provincial cabinet on the issue of retrenchment in the sole power supplier in the city, if required.

He informed the Nepra chairman that the biggest problem in the province was the replacement and repair of damaged transformers due to which electricity could not be restored in several parts of the province for a week.
