From The Past Pages Of Dawn: 1972: Fifty Years Ago: French mission destroyed

HANOI: The French General-Delegate to North Vietnam Pierre Susini, was injured today [Oct 11] when the delegation building in Hanoi was almost completely destroyed during the American air raid. … A large calibre bomb exploded, causing the central section of the delegation to collapse and damaging surrounding walls and windows.

… [W]hen the raid took place … [M]r Susini [was] lying buried under the wreckage, his head covered with blood. He was conscious, however, and speaking to rescue workers. Shortly after the blast, this correspondent saw Mr Susini buried under tons of rubble with just his head showing above the twisted concrete girders. … During the raid, the Algerian embassy — situated midway between the French delegation and the AFP office — lost part of its roof. — News agencies

[Meanwhile, as reported by the newspaper’s staff correspondent in Peshawar,] The Acting President of the National Awami Party, Mr Ajmal Khattak, has denied that there were serious differences between the NAPs of Baluchistan and NWFP. In a Press talk he said: “There is absolutely no difference between the Baluch leader, Mr Ghaus Bakhsh Bizenjo, and the NAP chief, Khan Abdul Wali Khan.”
