Three women killed in Rawalpindi, Gujar Khan
RAWALPINDI/GUJAR KHAN: A woman whose body was discovered outside her residence in Nishtar Colony in Sadiqabad on Tuesday was suspected to have been strangled. Another two women were shot dead in the jurisdiction of Gujar Khan police station on Tuesday over an old enmity whereas an infant who was with them was injured.
In the first incident, the victim was identified as Anum. Shortly, after the murder of the woman came to light, the police were directed to trace clues to the person responsible which led to a suspect’s detention. He wanted to get married to the victim. A police spokesman said an investigation was launched to ascertain the motive behind the woman’s murder, who seemed to be in her 30s.
According to preliminary investigation, a case will be registered against the suspect and he will be challaned to court with concrete evidence. The victim is a mother of two and had recently sent her children to Lahore where her parents lived.
Police said the second incident took place in Arazi Awan village of Gujar Khan when the suspects opened fire on two women and an infant child. The women succumbed to multiple bullet wounds while the child received a cut on his shoulder. The victims were identified as Sadia, 35, and Asmat Shaheen, 25. The child was identified as two-year-old Afran, the son of Sadia.
A heavy contingent of Gujar Khan police reached the spot and shifted the bodies and the injured to the Tehsil Headquarters (THQ) Hospital Gujar Khan.
Meanwhile, Inspector General of Police Faisal Shahkar took notice of the incident and sought a report in this regard. Superintendent of Police (Saddar Division) Zunair Ahmed Cheema reached the spot and supervised the process.
