Death of man at Bajaur hospital sparks protest
BAJAUR: Death of a youth at the District Headquarters Hospital, Khar, due to the alleged negligence of doctors sparked a protest by his relatives and others here on Friday.
The protest was held outside the hospital’s emergency ward after 23-year old Yaseen Khan died there. The protesters placed the body outside the emergency and shouted slogans against the hospital’s management for lack of facilities such as oxygen and negligence of staff.
The protesters said the deceased, who was wounded after falling from a wall following suffering an electric current from an overhead power line in Yousafabad village, was brought to the hospital. However, they claimed there was not even oxygen available at the emergency department, which allegedly caused the death of man.
The protesters claimed the doctors and other staff provided treatment to the victim after much delay.
The protesters said it was not the first time that a wounded person had died in the hospital’s emergency due to absence of facilities and staff negligence.
The protesters ended the agitation after hospital’s officials along with some political leaders assured them of investigating the matter.
