Asfandyar casts vote in Charsadda despite illness

CHARSADDA: Awami National Party central leader Asfandyar Wali Khan cast his vote at the Nari polling station during the by-election for NA-24 constituency here on Sunday.

After long disappearance from political scene due to his protracted illness, the ANP central chief visited the polling station to cast his vote for the joint candidate of Pakistan Democratic Movement (PDM) and his son, Aimal Wali Khan.

Talking to mediapersons on the occasion, Asfandyar said despite his illness he came out to cast his vote against Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf candidate Imran Khan. He said the nation should decide whether they wanted to send their representative to assembly or those who didn’t want to represent them in the National Assembly.

He said on one hand Imran Khan and his party lawmakers had resigned from the National Assembly, while on the other, he (Imran) was contesting the by-election from seven NA constituencies.

He said that establishment had no role in politics, adding that it (establishment) should not be dragged into politics.

Asfandyar said Imran Khan had failed to deliver, so he was removed as the prime minister through no-confidence move in a constitutional way. He said neither the establishment nor any foreign power had role in his removal.

He said during his tenure Imran Khan proudly claimed that he had very friendly relations with army chief, but now he said all decisions come from other places during his tenure.
