Pindi board gets new chairman

ISLAMABAD: Finally, the Punjab government on Monday appointed the Rawalpindi Board of Intermediate and Secondary Education (BISE) Chairman.

According to a notification issued by Services and General Administration Department of Government of Punjab, Mohammad Adnan Khan, Additional Director (BS-19) of International Islamic University, Islamabad, has been appointed as the Rawalpindi BISE chairman.

He has been appointed as chairman board on deputation basis for a period of three years under section 14(1) of BISE Act 1976.

Recently, the board employees showed their concerns over delay in appointment of regular chairman.

The employees had been stating that the absence of a permanent chairman affected working of the board which might delay their September salaries. The seat of Rawalpindi BISE Chairman has been lying vacant for the last one month.

After paper leak scandal, Punjab government removed the board Chairman Dr Khalid Mehmood and suspended Controller Examination Shahinshah Babar Khan. However, the then commissioner, Noorul Amin Mengal was given charge for three months from May to August. After the expiry of the deadline last one month, the seat was lying vacant. The employees had been stating that absence of the chairman was a question mark and a matter of concern.

After sensing the seriousness of the matter, the Punjab Government opted to fill the post through a deputationist.
