Varsity student shot dead, three hurt in Loralai

QUETTA: A student of Loralai University was gunned down and three others were injured in Loralai on Monday.

The university students went for an outing to Kohar dam, where some armed men opened fire on one of them, Israr Khan, and stabbed three other students accompanying him, police said. The attackers fled following the attack.

Police rushed to the site after receiving information about the incident and shifted the body and the injured to Loralai district hospital.

The injured were later identified as Syed Khan, Abdul Qahir and Mohammad Yar.

The motive for the killing could not be ascertained immediately, as police were investigating the attack. “We are investigating the incident from different angles,” a police official said, adding that initially the incident seemed an armed robbery attempt.

The official said it emerged during the course of investigation that the victim was the only brother of six sisters.

Taking notice of the incident, Adviser to Balochistan Chief Minister for Home and Tribal Affairs Mir Ziaullah Langov has sought report from the authorities concerned.

He directed them to form a special team to arrest the attacker as soon as possible. He said measures would be taken to bring him to justice. He also asked officials to keep close contact with the families of the victims and ensure justice is delivered.
