PFF to support Blatter

LAHORE, Oct 15: Pakistan Football Federation (PFF) has decided to vote in favour of FIFA president Sepp Blatter at next elections of the game’s ruling body in May next year.

A PFF spokesman said since $1.4million grant has been approved for the development of the sport during Blatter’s tenure, the PFF will favour him at the elections.

FIFA has been given a grant of $one million of which two instalments of $250,000 have already been received, while remaining amount will be released later.

Pakistan will also get $400,000 as part of the FIFA’s Goal Project after the evaluation of the plans made by PFF and recommendation of the FIFA representative.

Meanwhile, the PFF is yet to write the letter to FIFA asking its permission to hold the elections as per country’s national sports policy.

According to the policy, the national sports federations should hold elections from tehsil to national level by March, 2002.

The PFF, at its executive committee meeting last month in Lahore, had decided to seek permission from the game’s international governing body to hold elections.
