Cabinet condemns attempt on Imran’s life
LAHORE: Chief Minister Chaudhry Parvez Elahi presided over the Punjab Cabinet meeting on Friday that unanimously condemned the attempt on former premier Imran Khan’s life on Thursday.
A resolution issued after the meeting stated the Punjab Cabinet strongly condemned the incident of firing on PTI Chairman Imran Khan during ‘Haqeeqi Azadi march’.
Terming Mr Khan the most popular political leader in all the four provinces, it says the assault on him is a nefarious action meant to sabotage the country’s law and order, unity and integrity, and create unrest and instability.
It further stated that the Punjab Cabinet meeting pays tributes to the sacrifice of the martyred party worker, Moazzam Gondal, during the Wazirabad firing incident.

The Cabinet prayed for early recovery of all the injured persons, including Imran Khan.
It reiterated its resolve to bring all the persons directly and indirectly involved in the assault in the court of law.
The resolution also paid homage to the sacrifices of senior journalists Arshad Sharif and Sadaf Naeem.
Later, the chief minister and his son former federal minister Moonis Elahi visited the injured PTI Chairman at the Shaukat Khanum Hospital to inquire after him. They prayed for the complete recovery of Mr Khan.
Moonis Elahi praised Imran Khan for his determination to serve the country and its people.
PIC: A meeting presided over by Chief Minister Elahi at his office reviewed the matters pertaining to the Punjab Institute of Cardiology (PIC).
PIC Chief Executive Officer Dr Bilal Mohyuddin briefed the meeting about the institution’s performance and said free medicines were being given to some 2,500 patients daily.
The CM approved procurement of new CT scan and thallium scan machines for the PIC and directed the specialised healthcare and medical education department to take necessary steps in this regard without any delay.
He added that a new pharmacy will also be established for provision of free medicines, so that the patients don’t have to go to the upper floor for this.
The CM approved converting PIC to solar power and directed that a plan be prepared in this regard in a consultation with the energy department.
He also ordered steps to regularise the contract employees of the PIC according to the policy formulated in this respect.
