Suspected mugger shot dead by wounded robbery victim

KARACHI: An alleged mugger was shot dead while another was critically injured by a shopkeeper who also got wounded during the robbery in Dalmia on Saturday evening, said police and hospital officials.

Sharea Faisal SHO Haji Mohammed Ishaq said two armed motorcyclists came for a robbery at a milk shop in D-Block of Gulshan-i-Jamal. The robbers snatched cash and other valuables from a milk seller Mohammed Sohail, 27.

As milkman put up resistance, the robbers opened fire on him resulting in bullet injuries to the shopkeeper. As they were running away, the injured shopkeeper snatched the pistol from one of the robbers and opened fire on them.

As a result, one robber was gunned down while another wounded critically. Police reached the spot and recovered one pistol, a motorcycle and cash.

The body and the injured were taken to the Jinnah Postgraduate Medical Centre. Police Surgeon Dr Summaiya Syed said that shopkeeper, Sohail, suffered a bullet wound in the back, but his condition was stable.

A Chippa spokesperson said that both deceased and the injured suspects, whose identity could not be ascertained, were in 30s.
