Dir people to hold protest against Mardan police
LOWER DIR: Dir Qaumi Pasoon (DQP) has announced to stage a protest rally in Timergara today (Thursday) at Shaheed Chowk against Mardan police for their failure to arrest the killers of a youth killed in a passengers coach at Katlang Interchange three days ago.
The announcement was made during a meeting of DQP held here on Wednesday with its president Malik Shah Nasim in the chair.
The meeting was addressed by Dir Chamber of Commerce and Industry president Noor Alam Khan, Anjuman Tajiran Timargara president Haji Anwarud Din, Government Contractors Association divisional general secretary Imran Takur and others.
They said that Rahimuddin, a resident of Qilagai Siar, was killed in a passengers coach in Mardan on political arguments with the fellow passengers but the killers were not arrested despite the passage of 72 hours.
A brother of the slain youth was also injured in the incident. They strongly condemned the incident and termed it an act of terrorism and barbarism. They said that a protest demonstration would be held at Shaheed Chowk on Thursday.
They said that people of Lower Dir were invited to attend the protest irrespective of their political affiliation.
The DQP leaders said that Mardan police should fulfil their responsibility and arrest the killers before the people of Dir decide to take the law into their hands. They also demanded of the provincial police chief to take notice of the incident and provide justice to the family of the victim.
