He directed the Water and Sanitation Agency (Wasa) to improve its performance, saying that the agency would have to keep abreast of the latest requirements by shunning its traditional manners for timely resolution to the problems of the citizens.
Mr Elahi vowed to transform Wasa to make it a public service institution in the true sense. He asserted not to make any compromise on provision of facilities to the citizens, adding that provision of clean water and a better sewerage system was a fundamental right of the people. He warned that no negligence would be tolerated in the provision of clean water and installation of sewerage pipelines. He stopped Wasa from collecting sewerage charges from the mosques.
