Ganga Ram’s descendant visits Lahore Museum
LAHORE: Kesha Ram Hinsdale, the great-great-granddaughter of Sir Ganga Ram, has termed the Lahore Museum one of the architectural masterpieces designed by her ancestor, saying that the museum is of great historical and cultural importance.
“I am very pleased to come to the place where my grandfather spent some time of his life and it feels as if I have returned to my ancestral home,” Ms Kesha Ram said during her visit to the museum, an architectural masterpiece built by Sir Ganga Ram, on Thursday.
Praising the preservation of various artifacts and historical records, she said it was need of the hour to preserve these masterpieces for the generations to come.
Lahore Museum Director Muhammad Usman welcomed Ms Kesha Ram. He said most of the architectural gems of Sir Ganga Ram were located in Lahore and the museum enjoyed a distinct place vis-a-vis conservation of archaeology, culture and history.
Kesha Ram Hinsdale – a Vermont State Senator from the Democratic Party– is on a week-long visit to Lahore on the invitation of the Lahore University of Management Sciences (LUMS).
Ganga Ram is the architect of buildings like the Aitchison College, National College of Arts (NCA), General Post Office, Government College University, Model Town, Lahore College for Women University (Ganga Ram High School) and Hailey College of Commerce.
