32 centres set up for data verification, change in voters’ lists in Attock

TAXILA: The Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) has established 32 centres across the Attock district for verification of data or change in the voters’ lists.

Talking to journalists on Friday, District Election Commissioner Umer Khattab said that among these centres, eight have been set up in Tehsil Attock, five in Hazro, three in Hassanabdal, five in Fatehjang, five in Pindigheb while six in Jand.

He said that these centres are established by the DEC to facilitate the masses for entry or deletion of votes. Mr Khattab said 162 supervisors and 740 other officials had been deputed to support them, adding that a preliminary draft of the electoral rolls would be displayed at designated centres. Responding to a question, he said there were 626,974 male and 684,531 female voters registered in the district.

Responding to another question, he said that these centres would facilitate the general public for entry of their votes at permanent or temporary addresses as mentioned on their national identity cards (NICs). The DEC has appealed to the public to draw full-fledged benefit from the campaign and get their name entered in election roll list Form-15 for any objection and fill Form-16, and Form-17 for any correction in the name or address.

“The review officers would decide about the authenticity of the objections in their respective areas,” Mr Khattab said, adding that voters could check their registration status on lists by sending an text message with their identity card number to 8300.

The officer has urged people to visit centres of their respective area and register their name in provisional voters’ lists, and fill Form 15 for correction.
