Polyclinic to serve as teaching hospital for Nust School of Health Sciences

ISLAMABAD: Polyclinic will also serve as an undergraduate teaching hospital for the newly-established Nust School of Health Sciences.

National University of Sciences and Technology (Nust) and Federal Government Polyclinic (FGPC) Hospital on Friday reached an understanding in tis regard, says a press release issued by Nust on Friday.

It said that chief guest at the signing ceremony was Minister for National Health Services Regulations and Coordination Abdul Qadir Patel.

According to the press release, prominent among others present on the occasion were Rector Nust Engr Javed Mahmood Bukhari, Secretary Ministry of Science and Technology Ghulam Mohammad Memon and senior consultants from FGPC hospital.

The agreement was signed by Dr Osman Hasan, Pro-Rector Academics Nust and Dr Inayatullah Baig, ED FGPC hospital.

Speaking on the occasion, the health minister extended his felicitations to Nust and FGPC hospital on this joint initiative, which, he believed, would augur well for the health sector of Pakistan.

The press release said that the health minister was particularly impressed with the meritorious achievements Nust has garnered in a short span since its inception, particularly mentioning the launch of Nust School of Health Sciences that would address the dearth of highly skilled doctors in the country.

He termed the newly signed partnership a step in the right direction, which would be remembered as a landmark initiative in the history.

Earlier, in his welcome address, the Nust rector thanked the health minister for his continuous guidance and unstinting support during the entire process of this much-needed partnership.

He also conveyed his gratitude to minister science and technology and his ministry for extending all-out support to realise this joint venture that would have far-reaching dividends for all.

The rector also expressed his deep appreciation for each member of the teams involved in the partnership agreement from both ministries, FGPC hospital and Nust.
