Rs8 billion allocated for reconstruction of roads in Murree

RAWALPINDI: The Punjab government has allocated Rs8 billion for six main roads of Murree and launched the process to start work on the project.

A senior official of the district administration told Dawn that the project would improve movement of local residents and people visiting the hill station.

The roads which would be reconstructed are: Kalar Dhan Gali Road, Rs1.51 billion; Rawalpindi-Kahuta Jeora Road, Rs1.11 billion; Jeora-Panjar to Panjaar-Nar Road, Rs1.63 billion; Rawalpindi to Lehtrar Kotli Sattian Road, Rs1.23 billion; Chirah Chowk to Taban via Karor Road, Rs1.9 billion, and Murree Expressway Bostal Mor, Lawrance College Bansra Gali and Gali Barian, Rs1.2 billion.

Talking to Dawn, PTI leader and MNA Sadaqat Abbasi said the provincial government had started the process for the reconstruction of the roads in Murree and adjoining areas.

He said that the local residents had been demanding the government improve the roads.

He said the provincial government allocated the funds and asked the district administration to ensure quality work.

“We were planning to establish a new development authority for the Murree hill station and all housing societies and other work would be shifted to it.” He said legislation in this regard would be made in Punjab assembly soon.
