SWABI: Awami National Party and Pakistan Peoples Party leaders here on Saturday said that the assemblies should complete their constitutional tenure and accused the Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf leaders of working against the Constitution and democratic principles.

In separate gatherings, the leaders of the two parties criticised PTI for demanding fresh elections and going for dissolution of assemblies before completion of their tenure.

ANP leader Mukhtiar Khan said the PTI leadership should wait for the completion of tenure of the government and give up the tactics to weaken the country and its economy.

“The constitutional supremacy should be upheld in all circumstances,” he said.

PPP divisional general secretary Javid Inqilabi alleged that former prime minister Imran Khan was the product of the establishment and that he had admitted this.

He said that Imran now wanted the dissolution of the assemblies and fresh elections before completion of the constitutional term of the government.

“We consider it an unjust and unconstitutional demand,” he said.

BIKE SNATCHED: Unidentified persons have snatched a motorcycle and mobile set from two persons in separate incidents here.

Hussain Ali of Shahmansoor told Zaida police that unknown persons snatched motorcycle from him at gunpoint. The police registered an FIR and have started investigations.

In another case, Mohammad Idris of Adina village told police that an unknown motorcycle rider snatched an expensive mobile set from him.

In this regard, an FIR has been registered in the city police station.

Meanwhile, a big quantity of drugs, including hashish, heroin and opium, were set on fire and destroyed here on Saturday.

District police officials said thedrugs were burnt under the supervision of Senior Civil Judge Akbar Ali, deputy public prosecutor Umar Mehmood and inspector legal Faheem Khan after a court order.

In the light of the court orders, 1,715 kilogrammes of charas, 50 kilograms of heroin, 19 kilograms of opium, 20 kilograms of ice drug and 118 bottles of wine were destroyed.

DSP investigation Jameel Khan and sub-inspector Rais Khan were also present on this occasion.
