JI holds aptitude test for girls for free IT courses

KARACHI: A large number of young girls from across the city on Sunday appeared in an aptitude test organised by the Jamaat-i-Islami under its Bano Nabil Programme that offers skill-based trainings in the field of information technology (IT).

The event, held at Bag-i-Jinnah, was the second such event of the series organised by the party. JI’s charity wing Al-Khidmat in collaboration with leading educational institutions and a team of professionals has offered courses in freelancing, web and applications development, graphic designing, digital marketing and Amazon Virtual Assistant under the programme.

A JI statement claimed that thousands of girls appeared in the test. It said eligible candidates would be participating in four-to-six-months courses and following their completion, Al-Khidmat would also help them in job hunt, it said.

The courses that usually cost between Rs50,000 and Rs80,000 each would be offered free of cost to the participants in a first of its kind programme by any political party in the country.

Speaking to the participants, Karachi JI chief Hafiz Naeemur Rehman said his party had been playing its role to give Karachiites, particularly youth, a ray of hope for a better future.

The JI, he said, had a vision for both male and female youngsters of the city and vowed that the party’s mayor, if elected, would ensure establishment of an IT university in the city.

He also vowed to make Karachi a leading IT city in the country and the region.

The party would offer courses in other skills as well, he said, adding that the test would provide a foundation for the youth of Karachi to excel in the field of information technology.

He said the programme would enable the youth of Karachi to become an asset for their families, city and country.
