Emerson varsity’s new faculties approved
LAHORE: The Emerson University Multan (EUM) academic council has accorded approval to the creation of eight new faculties in the campus.
EUM Vice Chancellor Prof Dr Mohammad Ramzan chaired the council meeting held in the committee room of the university a couple of days ago.
Kohsar University Murree VC Pro Dr Syed Habib Bukhari, Allama Iqbal Open University former VC Prof Dr Ziaul Qayyum, Higher Education Department Deputy secretary Dr Muhammad Naeem, chairmen of all EUM departments were present in the meeting.
EUM registrar Prof Dr Zia Ahmed presented the agenda item, including launch of Mphil programmes in different faculties and establishing eight new faculties, including faculty of computing, faculty of management studies, faculty of languages, faculty of natural sciences, faculty of pharmacy, faculty of social sciences, faculty of media arts and faculty of food sciences.
The council also gave approval of establishing six new academic departments including business education and finance, bioinformatics and biotechnology, center for translation studies, computer science and environmental sciences.
The council also approved members of the board of studies and admission policy of the university.
The Government Emerson College, Multan, was given university status in 2021.As many as 6,000 students were enrolled in 21 BS programmes in natural science, social sciences, and IT. The university has also put its plan in place to renovate almost all the departments and buildings, including laboratories in subjects of science.
Meanwhile, a ‘Flipped Classroom’ model has been introduced and implemented in classrooms, where the class lasts at least 90 minutes.
Regarding the university’s infrastructure improvements, the funding has been approved, and the university is about to renovate and construct new buildings, roads, pathways and entry and exit gates.
