200 health workers promised payment of six-month pay ‘soon’
RAHIM YAR KHAN: More than 200 health workers of the district, who have been deprived of their salaries for the last six months, will be paid their dues soon.
This was claimed by Chief Minister Complaint Cell (CMCC) in charge Zain Ali Mazari here on Tuesday.
The affected staffers, including lady health workers, maids and security guards, working at the Shaikh Zayed Medical College Hospital (SZMCH) and different tehsil headquarters hospitals (THQs), rural health centres (RHUs) and basic health units (BHU), had lodged a complaint with CMCC at Lahore that they and their families were facing financial hardships because of non-payment of their salaries for the last six months.
Responding to the complaint, Mr Mazari met with these health workers who informed him about their issues.
Mr Mazari later held a meeting with District Health Authority (DHA) Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Dr Hassan Khan, District Health Officer (DHO) Dr Sakhawat Randhawa and District Accounts Officer Noor Tariq to address the issues of the health workers. In the meeting, the health officials assured Mr Mazari that the pending salaries would be paid to these employees at once on Jan 1, 2023.
Mazari also ordered the health officials to make arrangements for immediate supply of medicines to the patients.
