60 wheat flour sale points established in Attock

TAXILA: Deputy Commissioner Dr Hassan Waqar Cheema has said that the district administration has set up 60 sale points in Attock to provide wheat flour at a subsidised rate to the masses.

While giving details to journalists during his visit to a sale point in Attock on Saturday, Mr Cheema said five sale points were established in each tehsil and 30 in the Attock city.

Responding to a question, Mr Cheema said that the district administration and officers of food departments were monitoring the sale of wheat flour at fixed prices on a daily basis.

He said that earlier only 30 sale points were established in the district which was increased to 60 during the current week, keeping in view the artificial shortage made by the stockists and retailers.

“To discourage hoarding and profiteering by stockists and retailers, the district administration has established sale points in which millers supply flour to the consumers under the supervision of officials of the district administration”.

Ruling out the paucity of flour or artificial shortage of the basic commodity, he said with the recommendation of the assistant commissioners concerned flour was being supplied at 60 sale points on a daily basis across the district. He said that the concerned officials had been directed to display banners showing the rate of flour, adding flour vehicles must reach the designated sale points at 9am otherwise strict action would be taken against the responsible staff.

The deputy commissioner said the district officers, assistant commissioners and price control magistrates had been directed to monitor supply and availability of subsidised flour so that people could benefit from the government subsidy.
