Five members of banned TTP held with arms
LAHORE: The Counter Terrorism Department (CTD) claimed on Saturday to have arrested five suspected terrorists belonging to Tehreek-i-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) and recovered arms and ammunition during different intelligence-based operations (IBOs) in the province.
The Punjab CTD has conducted 21 IBOs in different districts of Punjab to avert any untoward incidents. As many as 22 suspects were taken into custody and interrogated.
During these IBOs, five members of proscribed TTP were arrested. The suspects were identified as Inamul Haq, Miskeenullah, Wahid Khan, Sher Naqeeb and Shah Wali.
Accordingly, four cases were registered against the arrested suspects under section 11-9/11-W ATA 1997 CTD Lahore police station, 4/5 ESA 1908 CTD Gujranwala police station, 4/5 ESA 1908, 7-ATA 1997 CTD Sahiwal police station and 11-H, 11-I, 11-J, 11-N, 11-F(2 ) CTD Gujranwala police station.
The CTD also recovered one IED, 510gm explosives, 2.1ft safety fuse wire, 6ft Prima card, two hand grenades, one electric circuit, one electric button, two detonators, 3ft electric wire, one battery, five books of banned organisation, one receipt book of proscribed outfit, two mobile phones and Rs 17,230 cash.
Furthermore, during this week, 526 combing operations were conducted with the help of law-enforcement agencies and local police. During these operations, 21,227 people were checked, 130 suspects were arrested and 82 first information reports were registered besides 27 recoveries.
