Ehtiram-ul-Haq Thanvi laid to rest in US
KARACHI: Renowned religious scholar Maulana Ehtiram-ul-Haq Thanvi, who passed away on Saturday in the United States, was laid to rest in Atlanta on Sunday, his family said.
His son Mohtasham-ul-Haq Thanvi told Dawn here that his father’s last rites were performed in Atlanta. His funeral prayer was offered at the Georgia Islamic Institute and he was buried at a local cemetery.
Maulana Ehtiram-ul-Haq Thanvi was suffering from cancer and he had been in the US for the past six months in connection with his treatment.
He was founder of the Jamia Ihtishamia seminary.
Special prayers and recitation of Holy Quran were arranged after Zuhar at Markaz-i-Jamia Masjid Thanvi, Jacob Lines, in Karachi.
The late cleric was the eldest son of renowned scholoar Maulana Ehtisham-ul-Haq Thanvi who had personal relations with Pakistan’s first prime minister Liaquat Ali Khan and others.
