ECP dismisses disqualification plea against Dar
ISLAMABAD: The Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) on Monday dismissed a plea seeking disqualification of Finance Minister Ishaq Dar.
Leader of Opposition in the Senate Dr Shahzad Waseem of PTI had filed the plea, seeking the disqualification of Mr Dar for not taking the oath of membership of the Senate within 60 days of the election. Announcing the judgement, the ECP stated that the notification of Mr Dar’s success was suspended on March 29, 2018, and it was restored after the Supreme Court dismissed the petition.
The ECP had reserved its decision on Sept 26, 2022, while the PML-N leader returned home after his five years’ stay in London on Sept 27. Later, he took the oath as a member of the Senate and finance minister.
