REDUNDANT TEST
REDUNDANT TEST: The Federal Public Service Commission (FPSC) needs to revisit its preliminary test (MPT) based on multiple choice questions (MCQs), which is a mandatory precondition for Central Superior Services (CSS) written examination. The current pass percentage is merely 1.94. Had MPT been of any value, the pass percentage in the examination would have been much higher. MPT is a waste of time and money.

PARKING SPACES: There is no proper parking infrastructure in major cities of the country, like Lahore, Islamabad, Rawalpindi and Karachi. Roads and markets are densely packed and clogged due to haphazard parking. The government should work on building parking places in all densely populated areas instead of handing out parking contracts. It would raise the quality of life in the cities, and would help in reducing the number of road accidents.

FOREIGN TOURS: A federal minister recently went to Switzerland, Romania, Greece, Portugal and Geneva on a 10-day visit to create new employment opportunities for Pakistanis, and to discuss the problems of the Pakistani community with the authorities concerned. The tour came at a time when Pakistan has been facing a severe financial crunch. One may question the real purpose of undertaking this expensive tour at the cost of taxpayers’ money when Europe itself is in recession and facing employment issues along with huge energy crisis due to the Ukraine conflict.

FEAR AND FRIGHT: In Kashmore, people are living in constant fear owing to a rapid and sharp increase in crimes, including kidnappings, robberies and snatchings. The relevant authorities must initiate action against the culprits so that the people may go about their daily lives with some sense of security.
