Bullet-riddled body of police constable found

THATTA: Police found bullet-riddled body of a constable along a water channel near the city’s famous place, Jillani House, here on Wednesday evening.

Police found an official rifle lying near the body which was identified as that of Constable Amjad Ali Gandhro and shifted it immediately to Thatta Civil Hospital for post mortem examination, said officials.

The late constable was initially posted at Keenjhar police station from where he was transferred to Makli police station and later deployed at Jillani House for security duty.

The police officials believed their colleague had been killed in cold blood with his own rifle late on Tuesday night.

They said the preliminary post mortem report revealed that the deceased had three bullet wounds; two in the back and one in the chest, and all bullets were fired from his official rifle.

The report’s contents and the circumstantial evidence showed that the constable was brutally murdered.

They would take all measures to resolve mystery surrounding the murder of their colleague, they said.

The body was handed over to heirs after completion of medico-legal formalities and was later buried with full police honours.
